Dr. Carson spoke about the roots of our great nation.  He commented that, “Placing the power in the hands of the people works.  Putting too much power in the hands of the government is when things become problematic.”  He supports Dr. Elfenbein’s goals to bring back accountability and transparency in government and return the power to Maryland citizens.  

Dr. Carson continued, “We need to emphasize and bring back the can do attitude, not the what can you do for me attitude.  That is why this election is so important.”  Dr. Elfenbein stands on the principal of being responsible to the people – to the voters.

Bob needs us now more than ever!  Politicians in Annapolis decided that with the budget in the red, it was the perfect time to pass a millionaire tax in Maryland.  Those same politicians predicted that this new tax would bring 106 million dollars worth of revenue.  Fast forward to today, and the promised revenue is nowhere to be found.   In fact, one-third of Maryland’s Millionaires are nowhere to be found, and the new tax increase is responsible for a 257 million dollar deficit.  Maryland’s Millionaires set up dual residency and took their money to other states. 

“Marylanders with high incomes typically own second homes in tax friendlier states like Florida, Delaware, South Carolina and Virginia. So it’s easy for them to change their residency.” – Christopher Summers, president of the Maryland Public Policy Institute.  Tax increases are not the way to restart our state’s economy.  Governor Bob Ehrlich plans to veto the tax increases made over the last four years, and I would vote against any new tax increases.  We need to cut taxes and decrease spending.  We have to live within our means and so must our government.

“I took an oath … very seriously … do no harm … and I think this system would do harm,” Elfenbein said.

He said he is alarmed by the president’s ideas on health care, especially the public option.

“You have to be worried about patient care and access to care. All this plan is going to do, is limit access to care. [I] do not want the government between me and my patients,” Elfenbein said.

Elfenbein said he believes tort reform would streamline the system and make it more affordable.

But the Maryland Democratic machine continues to block all efforts to require you to show the same photo ID before you vote for those representatives.  This is wrong.

 We need to 

     – Require proof of citizenship when registering to vote, 

     – Require photo ID at the polls,

      – Purge voter registration lists of those no longer eligible to vote in Maryland and maintain accurate lists in the future,

      – Establish statewide standards for verification and counting of all provisional ballots.

 The same security that is afforded to the occupants of state office buildings needs to be applied to the process through which we elect our representatives.
